It is going to be a beautiful autumn day. It’s 7 in the morning, and the temperature is already 63 degrees outside, a high of 86 degrees expected.

I’ll take it!

Last week the mornings were brisk, and the days overcast and windy. Mother nature is training us for a long cold winter, I suppose.

I had a nephew get married last night. The families and friends gathered to witness and give their blessings on their life journey together. It was nice to visit and see old friends and family that I hadn’t seen in quite a while.

They had their ceremony at a really cool building in Downtown Des Moines, Iowa, called the West End Architectural Salvage, is full of amazing antiques, and collectibles.

The wedding was tastefully done, simple, and fun.

The food was delicious, a cash bar, and plenty of drink choices for those who chose not to partake of alcoholic beverages.

The wedding cake and cupcakes were from another local Des Moines business I had frequented in the past when I lived there called Hiland Park Bakery.

I had a lemon cupcake, perfectly flavored and delicious. My husband had the traditional chocolate (also yummy), there was vanilla-almond, my almost son-in-law said it was beyond amazing, and a choice of strawberry, I wish I could have tried them all. After the food, we moved to another room for dancing, music, and beautiful vintage chandeliers sparkling as the bride and groom danced beneath them.

We left after several dances, as we had to travel back to our home in the boonies. I have to work this morning. It was a beautiful evening. Perfect weather, great people, a unique venue, and top-notch food.
